A few of you know that I've been reading Josephus's Complete works. The book was discovered not that long ago, and was translated to English by William Whiston, A.M.
It was interesting that one day, while taking a Path train to NY city, I met a Princeton professor (a lady), whose subject was this very book and historical times!
Joseph was a first rank Jewish young and distinguished priest, who was appointed by the government of Jerusalem to be the governor of Galilee at the time Romans conquered the world. Joseph lost his battle to Romans, but was kept in high regard by the new Cesar to be, and became close friend of Vespasian's older son. Joseph predicted that Vespasian would become the new Cesar, which really happened.
Joseph described the war of Jews with Romans, as he was the eye-witness. It is very impressive to read his book. Could you believe that I am reading the real historical eye-witness account of those times!!!!
In his book, Joseph mentions Jesus, which I thought some of you might be interested to read about. I will insert a copy of the pages.
By the way, it was interesting for me to learn, that Jesus was a very common Jewish name those times.
Enjoy a bit of history!
I requested another book about Josephus from the library, which might have more info about Jesus.
