Using Essential Oils By Hebrews

Friends,
History always fascinates me.  Since I love essential oils so much, I pay extra attention to any information about their uses when reading books.

A few of you know that I' read Josephus's Complete works.  The book was discovered not that long ago, and was translated to English by William Whiston, A.M.

Joseph was a first rank Jewish young and distinguished priest, who was appointed by the government of Jerusalem to be the governor of Galilee at the time Romans conquered the world.  Joseph lost his battle to Romans, but was kept in high regard by the new Cesar to be, and became close friend of Vespasian's older son.  Joseph predicted that Vespasian would become the new Cesar,  which really happened.

Joseph described the war of Jews with Romans, as he was the eye-witness.  It is very impressive to read his book, the real historical eye-witness account of those times!!!!

I also read Josephus by Lion Feuchtwanger.   Here are short excerpts from the book.

In old times, Frankincense was worth more than gold.  In the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem,  in the inner Temple "there stood the vessel with the thirteen different kinds of frankincense, all of which were wrested either from the sea, or the uninhabited wilderness, or the inhabited earth, showing that everything came from God, and existed for the glory of God." ("Josephus, Lion Feuchtwanger)

After Joseph was whipped, "under the supervision of the doctor he was washed, anointed with oil, and given a drink composed of wine and Myrrh.

When Joseph's child was born, "they anointed it with warm oil, strewed it with powdered myrrh".

Not sure in which of the above books I read about an older man carrying a small bottle of Frankincense to use before dying.  Starving, and exhausted, he was looking for a place to dye, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.   (not easy times to read about...)

Gary Young has extensively studied the history of essential oils.  He created a kit, containing the Biblical oils, Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture, and Exodus II blend (which I have!).

"Exodus II™ is a timeless blend of essential oils from the same type of plants that Moses used for temple incense.
Ingredients
A base of olive oil, cassia (Cinnamomum cassia), myrrh (Commiphor myrrha), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), calamus (Acorus calamus), hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), galbanum (Ferula gummosa), frankincense (Boswellia carteri), and spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)."

Hebrews knew about the essential oils, and used them extensively in every-day life.  While traveling in desert, water was scarce.  Knowing about medicinal properties of Cinnamon,  Hebrews used Cinnamon essential oil for hygiene and protection against disease.

Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture contains twelve of the most significant oils found in the Bible, including Aloes/sandalwood, cassia, cedarwood, cypress, frankincense, galbanum, hyssop, myrrh, myrtle, onycha, Rose of Sharon/cistus, and spikenard.

Frankincense cost more than gold in ancient times.
Young Living offers 3 kinds of Frankincense: (Boswellia carteri), and Sacred Frankincense, plus Frankincense resin, and even Frankincense resin gum.   It is also included in many blends: Longevity, Brain Power, Egyptian Gold, Exodus II, Gathering, Harmony, Highest Potential, ImmuPower, Humility, Inspiration, Into The Future, Trauma Life, and Three Wise Men.

Many of Young Living Essential Oils’ most popular products are now kosher-certified!
Being kosher-certified means that a product is fit to use in any application in a manner that conforms to the kosher laws rooted in Biblical and Rabbinic traditions.   These products and the facilities that produce them have been inspected and found to meet strict kosher requirements.

For over five thousands years!, essential oils have been used around the world!   I feel so fortunate to know and use therapeutic grade essential oils, which are of highest quality.

"When the salt is dissolved in water it is still there, and when the water evaporates the salt still remains."
"The mind is resilient.  No door can be closed tightly enough to keep it out."
("Josephus, Lion Feuchtwanger)

BTW, I know why I am so drawn to essential oils.  My maiden name is Bensman (spelled erroneously Bentsman, by illiterate "responsible" men), which supposedly meant "blessing others" (something to that effect).
